Project Assistant – Lautoka
The Bayly Trust
The Bayly Trust is a charitable NGO that delivers a welfare assistance program to support poor and under privileged families with food, education and basic homes. In 2025, the Trust expanded its programs to include community interventions for Non-communicable Diseases (NCDs) focusing on prevention and control. The Trust head office is located in Rodwell Road, Suva and its three operational branches located in Suva, Lautoka and Labasa.
We are seeking a proactive and organized Project Assistant for our Lautoka Branch to support the implementation of the programs, projects and activities of the Branch.
1. Roles of the Project Assistant
The Project Assistant will provide quality administrative and logistical functions required of the Branch. With guidance from the Branch Manager, he/she will work with the communities, community health workers, zone nurses, and other stakeholders to implement actions for NCD risk factors such as smoking, obesity and unhealthy diet, excessive alcohol intake, lack of physical exercise, excessive kava intake and stress. By reducing NCD risk factors, the Bayly Trust contributes to the reduction of NCDs such as like diabetes, high blood pressure, heart diseases, cancer and long-standing respiratory diseases. In addition, the project assistant supports the delivery of the Bayly Trust welfare assistant to reach Beneficiaries in a timely manner.
2. Key Responsibilities
The Project Assistant assists the Branch Manager in the following tasks:
- Administrative Support: Manage files, correspondence, meetings and follow up actions.
- Welfare assistance for beneficiary food packs and education support
- NCD Screening: Assist in the preparation of NCD screening activities
- Community Engagement: Support community actions for NCD prevention through various settings such as villages, churches, schools, and workplaces.
- Monitoring: Assist the branch manager to monitor project performance and delivery.
3. Required Skills & Experience
- Education: A certificate or a diploma in community development, project management, or education.
- Experience: At least 2–3 years of relevant work experience, preferably in a community project, an NCD related program, or NGOs.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to write project reports and minutes of meetings.
- Competencies:
- A good command of spoken and written English.
- Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.
- High level of organization with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and neutrality
4. Mandatory Requirements
- Must be a citizen of Fiji residing in Lautoka.
- Must have a police clearance record
