Housing Upgrade

Family of five residing in Kalekana – Lami was living in unhygenic conditions where they didn’t have a floor inside their house. On rainy days water came inside and the mud floor made it worse. The family faced extreme difficulty keeping their clothes dry. The only respite they had was on sunny days when they could spread the clothes on the ground outside, and these types of days are not common in Suva.
My heart ached, said Suva Branch Manager, Manorma Chandra, seeing families living in such situations and finding no resourses to improve their living standard.
Through the kind donations on a private company, the Suva Branch was able to lay out plastic pallets across the floor, raising the level above the ground, and on these were placed wooden boards. The family was overjoyed and said a Big Vinaka Vakalevu to the JP Bayly Trust family for the good work they do.
