Published: 03rd Nov 2023

JP Bayly Trust signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Foundation for Rural Integrated Enterprises & Development (FRIEND), a community development Non-Governmental Organisation based in Lautoka.

The Bayly Trust, which is one of Fiji’s longest serving charities, will celebrate its 70 years of service in 2024 and has been providing physical needs and the medical care for the sick, aged destitute and less fortunate since its inception. The Trust currently provides food rations from its branches in Suva, Lautoka and Labasa to more than 400 families and also assists in the education needs of more than 500 students from kindergarten to tertiary level.

The MoU was signed by Ms. Sainiana Rokovucago, Chief Executive Officer, FRIEND and Mr. Digby Bossley, Chairman of the JP Bayly Trust on 3rd November at the Anchorage Resort during the JP Bayly Trust Strategic meeting with the JP Bayly Trust executives, management and staff.

The MoU outlines a framework for cooperation and collaboration between FRIEND and JP Bayly Trust to leverage respective strengths, expertise and resources to achieve shared objectives, such as skills training and empowerment programs for its target groups.

This partnership will facilitate knowledge exchange, resource sharing, and joint initiatives to better serve our stakeholders and make a positive impact in our community.

The collaboration exemplifies the power of collective action and the importance of collaboration in addressing societal challenges.

The hallmarks of FRIEND’s work are the integrated approach it brings into community development and there are aspects of these programs that aligns with the work of Bayly Welfare.

Chairman, Digby Bossley thanked FRIEND and CEO Sainiana Rokovucago for the past collaboration to help achieve our similar goals of taking care of the most needy in our communities. With the MOU he looked forward to this continuing and moving to even greater heights.

FRIEND has been working with Bayly Trust through the pandemic and thereafter in supplying food rations to those less fortunate as well as those whose employment was affected. By combining our expertise and resources, we are poised to make a lasting difference in the lives of those in need. #MoU #partnership #ServingCommunities
