The Koroipita model town is a specialized community project in Fiji that provides safe,cyclone-proof, and affordable housing to impoverished and homeless families. Operated by the Model Towns Charitable Trust, it acts as a stepping stone to help underprivileged families break the cycle of poverty and transition into mainstream society. The Koroipita initiative, established in 1985 and transitioned into the model town phase in 2003, is far more than just a housing project. Its core functions and community programs work to support and motivate family personalized development plans that guide them through education, training, and employment. Currently it has more than 300 homes and houses more than 1500 people from Lautoka and Nadi corridor. The project is funded by the Fiji and NZ governments.
